Before Taking the ITA Test
- Ensure you have been assigned as a Teaching Assistant
- Check your eligibility requirements
- Review the test format and expectations
- Practice your oral English skills
Test Information
- Test duration: Approximately 45 minutes
- Format: Oral interview with English Language Center staff
- Location: English Language Center
- Required for: International TAs who will interact with students and language scores (e.g., TOFOL) less than a certain bar

Additional Important Information
- If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, this can be done through your Bookings appointment confirmation email or by contacting our office at txglobal-ita@austin.utexas.edu. Appointments must be rescheduled or canceled at least 72 hours in advance to avoid a no-show fee (billed through What I Owe).
- ITA Screening Directions: Review this document for task instructions and information about scores and results.
- ITA Screening Exemptions: Students with a score of 25 or higher on the speaking section of the TOEFL iBT or a 7.5 or higher on the speaking section of the IELTS within the last 24 months can be exempted. Contact us before your appointment if you have that score.
- Screening Day Issues: If you have a true emergency or technical issue on your screening day, contact the ITA Screening & Certification Team (+1 512-471-2480 or txglobal-ita@austin.utexas.edu).
